canvassing
Wednesday, May 14, 2008

went canvassing today AGAIN.
=( =( =(
sigh, why did i choose to succumb to my friend's persuasion to join SWOC flag =(
i hate canvassing!
we had to comb the whole industrial estate of Ang Mo Kio to ask for donations,
get chased by big black brown huge barking dogs,
get threatened by office workers
and walk endlessly under the scorching hot sun, and today, rain.
=( =( =(
but oh well,
i agreed to, so there.
well.. i could have picked up a new hobby, learn to play the guitar, get a job blah blah blah instead of waking up at 8am in the morning (and even earlier tml) and head to another day of canvassing..
it's weird that i'm doing it all in the name of charity and i'm not feeling any good about it, AT ALL.
and charity's charity, why must there be competition among halls just to win some stupid shield and glorify the name of the hall?
this is now called COMPETITION and not CHARITY.
our motives have all gone wrong!!
we're trying to collect as much money as we can in the name of competition, charity's now secondary.
WHY AM I DOING THIS!?!?!
it's burning all the free time i deserve to have.
SIGH.
i hate to ask people for money now.
i've came to a conclusion that people who donated doesnt donate out of goodwill or willingly. they are forced to.
it's like we just corner some poor office worker who may not be earning much and keep pestering her to donate some money(and not coins, mind you) by cooking up(actually they are not really lies) some poor man's story just so she would make a personal donation.
we would say "any amount will do" and smile smile a little hoping that her/his donation would be above $10 and leave gleefully after collecting the money or grumble if she/he doesn't upon leaving.
we had to eat terrible food at stuff canteens(not exactly THAT bad actually, exaggerating a little =X) and walk what seem like a gazillion hours(when it's actually 4/5) when i could lay myself in front of the tv and enjoy being a couch potato.
WHAT IS THIS.
okay, at least the donations we got for these two days tripled the amount the previous batch got for the Ang Mo Kio area.
this, the only thing that's consoling me right now.
enough of naggings for now and hello canvassing tml again =(
rattles on..
