Sheares Hall Family Day

yesterday was family day!!! was so much fun!! =D the turn-out wasn't as great as we had expected, which was a good and bad thing.. good : we had more share of food! bad : i think more people = more fun.. hahas!!
the theme for this year's family day : Kampung Sheares! =D
after finishing the preparations for family day in the morning at 3.15am, the sheareslink peeps met at 8.15am in the sheares hall lobby! we prepared drinks, hung up last minute decorations and set up the reception area and the whole event started at 9am!
SH = Sheares Hall!! we - the 4 girls you see, blew, tied and placed up the balloons! so nice rightt?? =D
there were so many things around for us to play! but i think i was busy eating more than anything else =X
there was the ice cream man scooping traditional ice-creams - it was so yummy that i had several servings of it! (i won't tell how many! hahas!)
there was the muah chee and tu tu kueh aunties (which i didn't get to take pictures of =( ) - i only managed to try the muah chee which was okay..
there was also the candy floss machine - which didn't have as much business as the rest but was free flow and didn't require coupons to redeem.
and there were many many game stations!!

and the jumping thing which was so much fun!! you just bounce and bounce and bounce! hahs!
then there was the bingo game which was held 4 times

i played cheat for all the 4 games (by taking a few slips of the bingo paper at each time).. =X
and still didn't manage to win at all!! =(
at about 12pm, Hian Yi and i started folding balloons for the kids around..
i folded a flower for that cute little girl and a dog for her brother!! they were soo cute! hahas! oh, for your information, i only know how to fold dogs, flowers, swords and butterflies =X so their choices were pretty limited! hahas!
then there was the phototaking booth by photo comm!! there were props available too!
we each had a free photo nicely edited and developed on the spot by photo comm! =D
and we continued to camwhore amoung ourselves..
oh! and before i forget... i won a $10 ben and jerry's voucher in one of the 3 lucky draws!! i was actually hoping to win the ipod touch (the first prize for the grand lucky draw, there were 3 lucky draws altogether i think), oh well, at least i won something! =D
after the whole event, the Sheareslink peep stayed back to clear up the place and shift the furnitures back to where they came from, followed by a short debrief..
then i quickly washed up, and waited for him to drive me out to dinner then home! =)

hours before Sheares Hall Family Day
later's family day!! can't wait!! hope it'll be a success though.. hahas! shall take some pictures of the balloons we placed up for decorations and post it tomorrow! it's super nice!! *smiles proudly!* hahs! anyway, he came over today to watch the stardust thing at the NUS central forum and sweetly agreed to fetch my friend and i to sheng shiong for some last minute purchase of scrap books for the family day! thank god for him or xin yi and i would have to take a bus and rush there.. thank you!! =) oh! and he bought me an Anna Sui cosmetic mirror! =D (just so that i will have fewer unglam moments i guess... hahas!)
it's pretty blur here.. the best shot that i took.. but.. it's really pretty and has a butterfly at the front! love it so much!! =D
then we headed to macdonalds to have supper and played lame games like 'which breakfast set has the highest total fats/sodium' etc and it went on and on! we laughed pretty loudly that the people at the tables beside kept looking! =X hahas! oh, and he keeps winning can!! i'm not going to play the you-do-i-say anymore! please remind me cuz i can't seem to win!! =( then we took a short walk at the park before heading back to hall whre i had to continue doing up the decorations for the family day..
since this is a special day...

opps! =X i've been using more and more money these days.. also dunnoe how come.. it's time to save so that i can go genting!! else according to him, it'll happen in 2011 =S so saving starts... next month!! and HOPEFULLY, no more splurging on clothes and food!

My room's getting messier and dirtier each day cuz i'm just plain lazy to clean and tidy it up!
i need to pack and tidy again before stayover comes!! =X SECC(sheares exposure camp committee)'s going around helping people clean rooms(which only includes the vacuuming of floor and cleaning of fan) at $5 and i'm one of the 'cleaners', so he says that i should pay myself $5 to clean my own room =S

oh, and for those who didn't know, i've got many many things in hall!
tv - from my ah gong's house , stereos - which my brother bought for me for my birthday last year , huge printer - which my brother passed down after using for 4 years , a real(and i think withering) christmas tree - from him , my still really nice table height christmas tree which i totally adore - from the person whom you saw in my second post , aplenty cushions in various sizes - some kooped from home, some bought , a fish tank containing REAL AND SURVIVING fishes - from my buaya, calvin and additional fishes contributed by ce ying when a few died later on =X , one tall and one table side lamp -from ikea when dave accompanied me there and fetched me back in his bike(don't tell my daddy please =X) , pretty red and white light decorations - a gift from joseph who sweetly remembered that i liked red and white when he went to thailand , guitar - which i wanted to learn during the break after sem one but still haven't got anyone to help me string , big head bear stuff toy - from yan guang a day before valentines , a huge mickey mouse stuff toy(which is now hidden in my cardboard as it was collecting dust) - given by eric when i was secondary 2 , a picture of myself - drawn by zhi gen(he's so talented!! an artist in the making!!) , my whole collection of earings - which fills one and a half earing stands so far , i moved almost my whole wardrobe from home only leaving some to wear when i'm going out form home and the more formal dresses , my collection of bags thus far - still increasing i hope!=D , 2 bouquet of flowers - which i haven thrown cuz i can't bare to , and most importantly.. my gladys!! - for those who knows who she is.. hahas!
plus study materials and other jah pa lang stuffs
my daddy claims that he's got to rent a lorry when i'm moving back home after this semester.. hahahs! oppps! =X
actually my room has everything i need EXCEPT for a fridge which i wanted to move in last semester but hesitated to cuz i didn't know when they're going to do the spot check(we had to pay to place a fridge in our room and i didn't want to cuz it's pretty expensive! okay.. i'm a cheaterbug.. =X) was hoping that they'll do the spot check in the first sem so that i can happilly move the fridge in this sem, BUT... they were so smart to do the spot check only this mid sem!! so i had to use the common level fridge instead =(
okay! that's all for my room!! =D

An okay day

Today was an okay day except that i didn't manage to jog, which i intented to..
had a meeting with the graduating seniors regarding the seniors' farewell video and felt pretty bad as i called for the meeting a tat too late! wanted to get it done earlier but today was the only day that most seniors were free.. many of them had their thesis due and others had tests coming up.. not that they weren't coorperative during the meeting just that we kept side-tracking and so the meeting dragged longer than i expected it to! sorry seniors!! =X
but, on a sidenote, thanks a million to the seniors who came down for the meeting despite your busy schedules! i initially thought the meeting would have only me with the SMG people cuz i was afraid that the seniors would not be bothered to come down.. still, most of them came(some after my constant pestering)! thanks so so much for coming down and making my job easier!
the filming's going to be on monday night and i know that everyone's busyyy.. so... hope that it'll be done fast and nicely!
and to the SMG people, really sorry for the late meeting and that you'll have to rush the editing!! =X sorry!!!
hopefully everything goes well!!
oh!! and the Sheareslink people gave out fliers for the family day and seniors' farewell today!! so... to all shearites..... please come down for both events! it'll be fun, fun, fun! =D

Oral Presentation

today we had an individual oral presentation lasting 3 minutes long each! i started on my script only at 12am this morning and had to rush rush and rush! woke up earlier to practice my 'speech' and thought i could remember the bulk of it since i've recited them quite a no. of times.. was reciting it even while walking from hall to SOC, think the people who walked past me must have thought that i'm a weird person who talks to herself, oh well! BUT i was so nervous that i kinda read it all from the piece of paper i wrote my script on. I kept laughing cuz the tutor kept smiling each time i looked up from my script to TRY to maintain eye contact with him despite having to constantly read off that piece of paper! well maybe he was trying to make me less tensed but IT HAD THE OPPOSITE EFFECT! gosh...
well, was pretty funny though. my topic was on how to become a more effective SOC student. what an irony cuz i'm not even one!
and the brainy me came up with 3 P's :
Prepare for lectures - by reading notes beforehand
Pay attention during lectures
Practice! - past sem papers
and guess what! smart me =S thought of them all but have practiced none of the above SO FAR. i print lecture notes AFTER lectures, fall alseep or stone during lectures, and burn my nights before the exams watching webcasts such that there's no time for me to practice any papers.
i wonder how i'll do this semester, looks like i've got a lot to catch up on!
*PHEW! at least it's over! i was so nervous this morning that i purposely stood behind the table while doing my oral presentation so that no one(i hope) could see my legs shivering. hahahas! yes, and though i usually talk a lot(to my friends) during tutorials, i'm still a generally SHY person.. hahas! okay! one down, many more to go! =( god, bless me in this busy week!!

Went shopping with mummy yesterday! =) there's this city-shopper bus(578, if i'm not wrong, which means, i may be wrong =X) that we take more often recently when we wanna head to town! it's basically like a cab cuz it travels the expressway and takes us only about 15-20 min to reach Orchard, but the bad thing is that it costs each of us $3.60, which actually explains the no. of passengers on board.. oh well, all for convenience and to save time!
mummy and i then headed to Tangs to have our lunch(at the basement where we stood and ate) and met this cute lady! she was alone and joined our table, then we started talking! she's was soo funny! hahahs! she's some newspaper editor in charge of headlines and just moved to Singapore recently, and according to her, she buys TWO PAIRS OF SHOES EVERY WEEK!! goodness.. i wonder how she stores her shoes.. it's really SO MANY! wish i can afford that in future too! and then we started talking about where to shop and eat! haahhas!! typical ladies! and mummy and her were exchanging places to buy nice and comfy shoes while the not-so-much-of-a-shoe-fanatic me continued to eeaat!
how nice if we could always meet people like her and hook up random conversations.. i actually enjoy meeting random people and talking to them cuz i feel that it's really nice meeting people of different professions and backgrounds and learning about them too! what an interesting lunch mummy and i had! =D
then we headed upstairs(still at Tangs) to shop! was waiting for my mummy who was spending ages in the changing room when i saw my brother and his girlfriend! Catherine cut her hair! soo pretty! hahas!! but what a coincidence! and i was grinning when i saw them while my brother was smirking when he saw me, as usual, hahas! think he doesn't want his irritating sis to continue bugging them and interrupt their date! are all brothers like that!?!
then we went to topshop and mummy bought me new leggings which hoops round your feet! =) actually she looks better in it than me(i asked her to try it too so we could share, tip : when the SHARE word comes in, it'll be easier to get her to pay for it =P) cuz her thighs are way smaller, how i wish i could have thighs like hers =(
then we headed home as joseph was going to pick me up later in the evening!
promised to accompany him to get his sis's wedding present! how sweet of him! we headed to city hall and he decided to park at marina square which was a wrong choice as it was awfully packed! we went round and round in the carpark desperately looking for space but to no avail !so after 15-20 min, we decided to look for other carparks and his cashcard had $2 plus deducted for nothing! so he drove to suntec city's carpark which has so many empty lots! should have gone there earlier instead!! see lah! bu ting lao ren yan, chi kui zai yan qian(cuz i had actually asked him to go there before that)! ahhas!
we decided to shop first as neither of us were hungry and entered all the jewellery shops in suntec(they were all along this stretch on the first floor so it was fairly easy for us to find every one of them). We went in, looked, I TRIED(yes, i was a model for him, ahhas!), and compared! finally we both decided on the one from SK, was a bracelet cuz he decided that most relatives would give pendants.. it was $599!! wow! i suspect that he has si fang qian! ahhaas!! people like me have no savings and use every cent of my allowance every month! =(
after that we headed to Fish'n' co for dinner! we both ate new york fish and chips! delicious! it was a long time since i last went to fish and co! and i especially like those mints they give after meals as it wasn't that 'la'! i heard from a friend that her friend actually bought a large packet of mints from them before and it didn't come in cheap! maybe i should ask them if they still do sell it and how much it would cost next time! anyway...thanks joseph for the meal!! =)
last stop, Menotti, again! i just can't get enough of it! but by the time we reached there they only had the tiramisu left, thankfully it was nice so we didn't waste our trip there! ahhas! unfortunately i wasn't able to get him to try the chocolate cake(the one i mentioned in the last post)! another time then!

headed home after that! joseph, please remember how we exited so you won't need to loop and loop again next time! haahas!!

Eat, Eat and Eat

met him at city hall for dinner yesterday! was SUPPOSED to have something healthy and soupy but MY(yes, my) craving for pasta led us to New York, New York at citylink! went to the AMK hub one weeks ago with my family and found out that the pastas they served were actually not bad(tried a few other main courses other times which didn't turn out to be that great)!

mine!! it's called.. something carbonara with roasted chicken
his! it's called something tomato something with roasted chicken! it's basically almost the same as mine except that the sauce is different.. he claims that his is healthier, oh well!
then HE wanted to try out the desserts at menotti(it's at raffles city shopping centre) so i had no choice but to accompany! hahas! it was pretty packed when we entered but we still managed to get seats almost immediately(that's the good thing about looking for seats in small groups!).
SOFFIATO - warm dark chocolate cake with chocolate chip icecream.
it was fabulous! they warmed the chocolate cake before serving and thus it was so chocolatey and moist, melts in your mouth!
i don't know the name of this, but according to the lady who recommended, it was some white chocolate cheese cake. was not bad, but but but, the suprise came when more than half the cake was gone and we saw an oval piece of chocolate in the middle! i poked it and guess what! chocolate oozed out! the chocolate liquid was pretty bitter(you'll like it if you fancy dark chocolate) yet somehow refreshing! oh, and according to him, HIS oreo cheesecake tastes better! hahahahs! okay lars.. can't compare, different taste altogether =P
know what's the best thing?? the desserts are all one-for-one! according to the waitress(who so happens to come from AJ, the 06'batch, and surprisingly found him familier, hahas!), all desserts are one-for-one after 10pm EVERYDAY! and she suggests that we go on weekdays cuz there'll be a wider selection of desserts left after 10pm!
and so our total bill summed up to less than $10! =D so, if you happen to be in the city hall area and have nothing to do after shopping for the whole day, head down to menotti!! fantasitc desserts in a great place! nice to catch up with friends or have dates there too! =)
and after all the eating.... we camwhored the way back to hall! =)

morning!! before i post some pictures taken yesterday... i was reading someone's blog this morning and inferred that i had something to do with it..
to you : guess you called some time ago(as it was an unknown number) but i missed it.. i really hope that you're doing fine.. for someone who never fails to treat me food from nice places.. please do eat proper meals and take good care of yourself okay? yes, you've always been the one encouraging others so there bound to be times when you receive encouragement from others too! i sincerely hope you'll do fine.. enjoy your semester there as it's a rare chance whereby you can meet new people, experience a new culture and learn more things! i don't really know how i should explain myself or what i should explain.. but.. i just wanna let you know that you've been a really great friend and i appreciated all you've done! i know it's easier said than done, but please please don't let me affect you okay?

Guess what?? i successfully completed today's sit-in lab!!!! hahaahs!!!! my first ever completed sit-in lab!! usually yiling and i would just aim to compile.. BUT.. today i managed to complete the whole program with correct outputs!! hahahahs!!! and and and.. i still had time to add comments and make the codes look neater! finally i see some hope in passing my 1102! yays! hahas! *sings* if you're happy and you know you clap your hands! clap clap!
yiling : could see that you're worried, but don't worry! we'll try to pass 1102 together okayy?? =)
i'm so looking forward to dinner tonight! =) yes i know i should stop eating so much but he simply keeps feeding! so if i become obese it'll be his fault! hahas! and i'm finally going home tomorrow.. kinda miss home more these days! oh, my neighbour told me that they installed an lcd tv in the gym, so.. for all that i've eaten and i'm going to eat... gym, here i come!! i usually pick a timeslot that has my favourite drama so that i can jog and watch at the same time! don't know if it works for others, but i tend to be able to jog longer(which means more calories burnt) if i'm glued to the tv! so.. maybe you can try it out! hahahs!

First Post! =)
hahas! I've got a blog!! and all thanks to yiling and lala who taught me how to use/create/edit my blog! =) thanks girls! =D okay.. a computing student who doesn't know how to set-up a blog.. quite diu lian =X
and so.. i skipped lectures today wanting to extend my passport cuz my daddy refuses to discuss anything about going for a holiday UNTIL i get my passport done. but but but, i went to the ICA website and found out that i had to bring along my old and about to be expired passport! it's at home!! =( thank god i haven't gone all the way down to lavender yet! oh well, i shall do it another day! soon i hope, so that i get to go for a holiday! =) it's raining today AGAIN.. a nice day to sleeep!! and tommorow's another sit-in lab. how i dislike sit in labs!! there's insufficient time to think(given a slow functioning brain like mine), too little time to code, no one i can seek help from, it's held in a stressful environment(i hadn't even coded halfway through when a few people had finished their codings and left early the other times!) and i can't seem to get used to the secure shell thing which we have to use to run and compile our programs!! okay, i'm speaking alien language if you don't know about programming, but in short, programming is tough! well, to me at least.. BUT I AM going to get through all the tough programming modules and survive through the next 3 years because i know that God will help me pull through! =) and so i'm ALREADY complaining in my first blog post. i know.. i'm a complain queen.. haahs!
okay!! i shall end!! hopefully this blog doesn't stop here! =)
